Buffalo RiverWorks to Mutual Riverfront Park.
One way is 0.7-mile/1.1km. Round trip is 1.4-miles/2.2km.
CAUTION: This is a moderate-intensity route. Always wear your properly fitted, Coast Guard approved Personal Flotation Device (PFD). This is an active shipping route. Paddlers should stay out of the middle of the channel. Use caution when crossing the river and cross in a straight line or at a 90-degree angle.
Begin your paddle adventure at Buffalo RiverWorks and take in the view of RiverFest Park and Tewksbury Lodge. Kayak and hydro bike rentals are available. Parking area available to unload and load your own paddlecraft. Launch comfortably from an ADA-accessible roller dock.
Head upstream past new residential buildings, Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Association and the NYS DEC Ohio Street Boat Launch, an ideal spot to rest and enjoy nature. Continue upstream and pass the long standing Bison City Rod and Gun Club (docks for members only). Paddle under the Ohio Street Vertical Lift Bridge which continues to provide access up river to shipping vessels heading to Standard Elevator and further upstream. As you paddle through Elevator Alley, bask in the wonder of the enormous iconic Buffalo River Grain Silos. In its peak during the early 1900s, 300,000,000 bushels of grain passed through the area. As you pass Elevator Alley, you will approach Mutual Riverfront Park on your left. This is an active public paddlecraft roller launch with portable restroom facilities and several nearby restaurants. Note: there is a debris barrier in place as you approach the launch site. Pass through a small opening to access the roller docks. On street parking is available, but limited.
